Denosumab je hrazen u postmenopauzálních žen a u mužů s osteoporózou prokázanou celotělovým denzitometrem (T – skóre v intervalu -2,5; – 4,0 SD) na standardních měřených místech – bederní páteř, proximální femur, event. předloktí) a to při:
a) osteoporotické fraktuře, nebo
b) ve zdravotní dokumentaci prokázané neúčinnosti, kontraindikaci nebo nesnášenlivosti jiných antiresorpčních léčiv (např. oral nebo intravenózní bisfosfonáty, stroncium ranelát nebo raloxifen) nebo při projevech závažných nežádoucích účinků této léčby, nebo
c) dosažení věku 70 let.
Z prostředků veřejného zdravotního pojištění jsou pacientům hrazeny maximálně dvě podcutaneous injekce za 12 months. Léčba trvá nejméně dva roky. Terapie delší než dva roky je hrazena u pacientů s prokázanou zástavou úbytku kostní hmoty.
