Sunitinib je hrazen v léčbě pacientů: 1) s gastrointestinálním stromálním tumorem (GIST) po selhání léčby imatinibem pro neúčinnost nebo intoleranci, kteří vykazují ECOG performance status 0-1. 2) s nemetastatickým karcinomem ledviny T4, N0 – 1, M0 inoperabilním či s ponechaným pooperačním nádorovým reziduem, nebo s metastatickým karcinomem ledviny s jakýmkoliv T i N a M1, a) u pacientů s nízkým a středním rizikem v 1. linii léčby, b) ve 2. linii léčby. Pacienti musejí být ve výkonnostním stavu ECOG 0-1. Kontrola účinnosti léčby u pokročilého či metastatického karcinomu ledviny u pacientů se provádí 1x za 3 cykly jakoukoliv dostupnou zobrazovací metodou. Indikací k ukončení léčby je progrese onemocnění.
