Propranolol ve formě oralho solutionu je hrazen v léčbě závažného proliferujícího infantilního hemangiomu vyžadujícího systémovou terapii a splňujícího nejméně jedno z následujících kritérií:
– hemangiom ohrožující život nebo funkčnost,
– exulcerovaný hemangiom s bolestivostí nebo nereagující na jednoduchá opatření k ošetření ran,
– hemangiom s rizikem trvalých jizev nebo znetvoření.
Léčbu je nutno zahájit u kojenců od 5 týdnů do 5 měsíců věku. Propranolol je nutno podávat po dobu 6 months. V ojedinělých případech je možné, maximálně jedenkrát, léčbu zopakovat po dobu dalších 6 months. K zahájení a vedení léčby je potřebná spolupracující rodina/spolupracující dospělá osoba pečující o dítě.
